You are never alone
There are support groups for almost everything these days which is a true blessing. Al-Anon is my support group of choice and it saved my life. And allowed me to grow into the free, harmonious and forgiving person I am today. “Keep coming back. It works if you work it so work it, you’re worth it”, is their closing mantra and these programs certainly work and are a tremendous help for anyone living with or alongside addiction, abuse or shame. I have listed some of the major ones that can guide you to local groups and online communities.
Give them a try, they are there to help you. And if you don’t like it the first time, give it one more chance. Or find a different group.
Going to that first meeting changed my life. And I keep coming back. They can change yours too. Though you may not like everybody there, you will find that you love them all somehow. In the same way that they already love you. As we have something in common since we have all been there…
