My dark Vanessa - Kate Elizabeth Russel

Vanessa is 13 when she enters into a sexual relationship with her 45 year old teacher. He is the love of her life, or at least that is the narrative she needs to tell herself once he is accused of sexually abusing other young girls. Was it a love story or was she being groomed? For other it is a clear case of grooming and sexual abuse, but for her it is not. She was in love with him and voluntarily entered into the relationship. Looking back at the relationship as an adult she is still not sure, but she needs to hold on to the thought that is was love. If it was not, she is all of a sudden the victim of sexual abuse, which would change her entire life story. Very interesting book about grooming and complexities of sexual abuse when the victim does not realise she is a victim until years later.
